Madden Pasatta:

Description:  “Despite an increase in services to “rid of” plastic waste, plastic pollution has continued to cause harm to natural wildlife, especially in the oceans. The sealife is continually surrounded by new harmful objects, many of which focus human convenience along with an ambivalence to life beyond the human species. The plastic pieces encircling the fish in this print demonstrate the suffocation faced by wildlife as modern production continues to progress in this way. The fish is meant to mirror the structure of the polymer polyethylene terephthalate, which is the most commonly used thermoplastic. Along with this, the tail of the fish bends to represent a question mark, as it is living in an unpredictable environment. The question is meant as a challenge, a call to action and push for change.”
