Our
Mission

CultureWorks Transformative Art + Design Academy is a Holland, MI-based, faith inspired nonprofit offering culturally relevant, transformative art and design experiences to youth from all backgrounds.  Our mission is to cultivate creativity, build community, and empower students, in order to foster wholeness in a fractured world.

We provide a nurturing environment where professional teaching artists and designers work with middle and high school students from all backgrounds to inspire curiosity, develop talent, and build 21st century skills.

Fostering creative-thinking skills, collaboration, and fearless exploration in an accessible and encouraging environment are paramount to what we do.

Our after-school art and design classes for middle and high school students remain the heart of our programming. Since opening our doors in 2011, we have served over 3,500 students. In FY 2019-2020, we served over 1500 students, 172 of whom were registered for our multi-week programs, with the majority of those students qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program.

Because it is imperative to us to serve students of all backgrounds, all of our classes operate on a “pay-what-you-want” model. In addition, we offer transportation to and from class to students in the greater Holland area. This allows us to be as barrier-free as possible for any student to register for classes.

Real instruction
from real artists

We employ professional artists, photographers, designers, and others who are masters in their field. In doing so we provide our students with instruction from those with real life experience in the arts, making for engaging and practical programming.
