“Nonnative invasive species are capable of destroying the extinction of native animals and plants. When introduced to new environments, they reduce biodiversity and cause native plants and animals to compete for limited resources. Not only does this impact the local environment, but invasive species can have economic and larger environmental impacts. We as a society need to become more aware of the species we are letting into our lakes and figure out best practices to stop the spread of invasive species.”
