Design and spray paint your own 8’x8′ mural on wood paneling, with direction and guidance from local mural artists during this 2-day workshop. First, we’ll meet with a local mural artist on Thursday, July 21 for a demo & brainstorming session, and we’ll learn a bit about the Eastcore Neighborhood of Holland, which is hosting a mural festival sponsored by neighborhood nonprofit organization, 3sixty. The following week, you’ll flesh out your piece with spray paint from 9am-noon.
Demo & Design: Thursday, July 21 from 9am-11am. Meet at Prospect Park (Corner of 22nd St. and Columbia Ave.)
Painting: Thursday, July 28 from 9am-noon. Meet at Prospect Park (Corner of 22nd St. and Columbia Ave.)
This project is supported in part by the Mellon Foundation.
Completed murals will be auctioned off at a neighborhood block party on July 30th, where attendees will be invited to collaborate on a spontaneous mural as well as play games, connect with neighbors, and enjoy live music and food.
Over the course of the week, local artists will be painting murals on 3 Eastcore Neighborhood businesses, and the public is invited to join them for a “meet the artists” reception at Tulip City Brewstillery from 5-9pm on July 29.
