In this 2-day outing, we’ll pair up with Photographer Mark Parker and other area photographers/birders as we explore birding hotspots during the peak of migration season.  This will be an opportunity to see birds rarely seen by the general public.   We’ll begin our journey at Hemlock Crossing Nature Center, where Ottawa County’s Naturalist and Bird Expert, Curtis Dykstra, will provide an overview of birds in Ottawa County, which hosts more than 300 species each year!  Then, we’ll head outside in search of bird habitats, and introduce a couple phone apps that will help you catalog and identify species.  The following day, we’ll head to one of Michigan’s premiere wildlife preserves to see birds and wildlife, The Upper Macatawa Natural Area.  We’ll spend 3 hours hiking the trails in small groups.
Each group will have at least one bird expert, one or more cameras with long lenses and binoculars.  This will be a great chance to photograph and observe birds in their natural habitat with state of the art equipment and area experts to be your guides.  Bird watching is a fantastic hobby and with today’s mobile technology it is so incredibly accessible and fun!
Dinner and drinks will be provided on Tuesday; rain date is Thursday, April 19. Transportation Available.
