Join our Student Advisory Council for a free screening and discussion of the 2021 Film, Black Art: In the Absence of Light.  As we celebrate Black History Month, we’ll consider some historical blindspots of the white-dominated mainstream art world and visit studios and exhibits of contemporary Black Artists like Theaster Gates, Kehinde Wiley, and Faith Ringgold.

Inspired by the late David Driskell’s landmark 1976 exhibition, “Two Centuries of Black American Art,” the documentary Black Art: In the Absence of Light offers an illuminating introduction to the work of some of the foremost Black visual artists working today.
