What: An evening of live music, poetry, and storytelling by students, alumni and staff at Park Theatre in Holland, MI. This birthday bash is an opportunity to recall the remarkable people, community partners, and achievements that have marked CultureWorks’ first 15 years, and to envision our future together.
Who: Everyone! This event is free and open to the public, but please register in advance so we can order enough food. Dress casual and come party with us.
Why: Over the past year, independently conducted surveys and analysis have indicated that CultureWorks programs positively impact academic success, mental health, career preparedness, and social-emotional learning. Our teens are thriving! Survey responses indicate that they’re building long-lasting relationships with peers and mentors; they’re experiencing greater confidence in who they are and in their ability to express themselves; they’re getting off screens and engaging in conversations; and they’re growing in their ability to lead others with confidence and humility.
Did you know that enrollment in our summer classes more than doubled this year? And that enrollment in our multi-week fall and spring classes has grown by 54%? When we posted spring classes, nearly every seat was filled after just 24 hours, and we have over 30 on our wait list! This rapid growth led us to hire 2 additional staff members and blew through our projected budget for snacks, supplies, equipment, and materials. Every dollar raised at our Birthday Bash goes toward building our capacity to meet the growing need for free, accessible art programs for teens. We’re thrilled that you’re a part of the CultureWorks community, and we hope you’ll join us as we celebrate our journey and envision the next 15 years!
