Celebrating diversity and building community through the visual arts!

We’re so grateful to partner once again with the City of Holland to provide free hands-on art activities for all ages at the International Festival!

This year we explored origami and Suminagashi paper marbling from Japan, geometric designs from Morocco, Maori tattoo art from New Zealand, Mesoamerican art & design, and building with clay & natural materials, inspired by Diébédo Francis Kérés work in Burkina Faso.

We love highlighting art & design traditions from around the world, using materials and activities accessible to all ages. By learning about and celebrating diverse artistic expressions we gain greater empathy, cross-cultural understanding, and awareness of our own worldview, perspectives, and biases. The decorative arts (including ceramic tile work and Suminagashi), architecture, body art, and sculpture are all community-based, public art expressions that enrich communities and deepen interpersonal relationships.

Many thanks to Gentex for sponsoring the Children’s Fiesta this year!
