Our Student Advisory Council visited Alysha Lach White at her beautiful Little Space Studio in Grand Rapids today.
Illustrator and Designer Alysha Lach white is a super hero. She has taught Character Design and Figure Drawing at CultureWorks and continues to be a guest teacher in workshops, illustration classes, and at our annual fall retreat. She is an active ally and advocate for minority communities and, she is the founder of Little Space Studio, a co-working space for creatives in Grand Rapids that also offers learning opportunities for local artists and youth. Our Student Advisors practiced figure drawing in her spacious studio and toured the new spaces that include a theatre and a podcast recording studio.
We also met Billy Angel, who explained the history and mission of Story Trio, a performing arts nonprofit that meets in the basement, and is part cafe, part circus, and part church. They provide community events, workshops, and occupational therapy focused on individual and community growth through storytelling, improv, poetry, and prayer.
