Illustration Workshops with John Rocco

In partnership with the 2018 NEA Big Read Lakeshore, CultureWorks offered 2 free illustration workshops with internationally acclaimed author and illustrator, John Rocco.

Students learned about Rocco’s work as an author (of the Big Read’s selection, Blizzard), illustrator (for many books, including the beloved Percy Jackson series), and pre-production art director (for DreamWorks’ Shrek), and practiced some of the illustration techniques that he uses. Rocco also had dinner with the CultureWorks Student Advisory Council, and inspired them with stories about his life and current work, while encouraging them to keep pursuing their own artistic adventures.
